Direct-to-Consumer Blood Tests

We are aware that an increasing number of patients are using private, direct-to
consumer blood testing services. While we understand that these tests may provide
helpful insights, we would like to clarify how results from these services are managed
within the practice.
Results from private testing providers cannot be interpreted or acted upon at face value.
This is because:

  • The laboratories used are not always NHS-approved or quality-assured to NHS
    standards
  • Test ranges and methods may differ from those used within the NHS
  • Results are often provided without the full clinical context needed for safe
    interpretation
For patient safety, we are therefore unable to directly diagnose or begin treatment based
    solely on these results.
What to do if you have had a private blood test
If you have concerns about your results or your health:
  • Please contact the practice to request an appointment via our on-line triage form
    available on our website
  • During your appointment, we will discuss your symptoms and medical history
  • If clinically appropriate, we may arrange for the relevant tests to be repeated
through the NHS to ensure accuracy and consistency
This approach ensures that any investigations and treatments are based on reliable
    information and appropriate clinical assessment.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
