Patient Newsletter August 2025

From our Patient Participation Group

Practice Update

  • Minor Surgery
Since June 30th, Saltash Health Centre has been able to delivery minor surgery where clinically appropriate.
  • DNAs
Following changes to the reminder service, the number of missed appointments (Did Not Attend, or DNA) has been reduced by 50% over the past three months.
  • Practice Improvement
The Practice is reviewing patient demand and staff capacity to improve continuity of care. The aim is to help more patients see the same doctor over time, where possible.
  • Suggestion Box
You may have noticed the surgery Suggestion Box on the small table under the PPG Noticeboard. The NHS considers all patients part of its ‘Friends and Family Test,’ so please do leave your comments when you visit the surgery. Of interest, they are currently receiving a 94.6% rating from you!

Did you know?

  • St Barnabas Hospital still has podiatry and physiotherapy services. When being referred, ask if you can use St Barnabas.
  • You can request referral to the Healthwise Scheme at Saltash Leisure Centre if you have an existing medical condition such as high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, asthma, depression. For a reduced membership fee, you will be assessed for a tailored physical activity programme to help you manage and improve your health.

Patient Participation Groups (PPGs) are encouraged by the NHS. Volunteer
patients meet regularly with the Practice Manager and, ideally, a GP to support
the running of their surgery. PPGs look at the services the practice offers,
patient experience and how improvements can be made for the benefit of
patients and the practice.

In Saltash, each Practice (Port View and Saltash Health Centre) has a PPG. Our
committee usually meets every 6 weeks or so to discuss with the Surgery how we can
help improve services. If you would like to take part, please contact our Secretary, Sue
on 07732 543220.

Visit the joint PPG Facebook page (Voice of Saltash Patients) to stay informed.
