We Are a Training Practice

Saltash Health Centre is proud to be an approved training practice.

We help trainees receive personalised tuition from experienced GPs who have had further training as Educational Supervisors, as well as other members of the Primary Health Care Team.

We regularly have Foundation Year 2 (F2) Doctors and Registrars as part of our team.

F2 Doctors – Foundation Year Doctors, also known as F2’s, are all fully qualified Doctors who are working within the General Practice environment as part of their post qualification development and to help them decide on an area of medicine they would like to focus their career.

Many F2’s do go on to become GP’s in their own right. All our F2’s have access to a mentor, one of our experienced GPs, every day and are always supported as they run their own sessions.

GP Registrar or GP Trainee – Qualified doctors who are training to become a GP through a period of working and training in a GP practice. They will usually have spent at least two years working in a hospital before you see them in a GP Practice and are closely supervised by a senior GP or trainer.

Students – We also support trainee paramedics, physician associates, student nurses, GP assistants and Peninsula medical school students.

Patients will be notified if a student is present with the GP or Nurse. Patients are free to ask for the students to be excluded from their consultation, if preferred.
