Private GP Consultations and Requests for NHS Follow-Up

We understand that some patients choose to access private healthcare services, including remote GP consultations.

If you have seen a private GP and they recommend tests, prescriptions, or referrals to be carried out by the NHS, we will always review your request carefully to ensure it is safe, appropriate, and in accordance with GMC and NHS guidelines.

Please be aware that:

  • We are not obliged to carry out investigations or prescribe medication recommended by private providers.
  • Requests from private GPs may require a full clinical assessment by one of our GPs before any action is taken.
  • We may ask you to book an appointment with us so we can review your symptoms, medical history, and any recommendations in context.
  • We are unable to act on requests without sufficient clinical information or where we feel the request is not appropriate.
  • Prescribing and investigations within the NHS must meet local and national guidance, and remain the responsibility of the NHS clinician.

In some cases, it may be more appropriate for the private provider who assessed you to arrange any recommended tests or prescriptions directly.

Our priority is to ensure that all care provided through the practice is safe, appropriate, and in your best interests.

Thank you for your understanding.
